Uniform

The wearing of full school uniform is expected as an integral part of the school ethos, promoting positive attitudes, high standards and a sense of personal pride. Our uniform is a gender-neutral uniform and not specific to boys or girls making it more inclusive and in keeping with our ethos.

We expect students to be proud to belong to Marple Hall and to show this through wearing their uniform with pride. We also understand that teenagers can put pressure on parents sometimes with regards to purchasing specific items to wear as uniform and would like to reassure parents that we enforce the wearing of our uniform. Students may be sent home to change or will be isolated if they come to school wearing inappropriate uniform. This way all parents will know that we are implementing the uniform policy very seriously and should hopefully relieve some of this family pressure.

If you have any doubt about shoes or any other uniform item, please contact your child’s Year Team before purchasing.

Preloved Marple Hall Uniform is available to purchase at Refresh Charity Shop in Marple on 19 Hollins Lane (Opposite Asda) any uniform that is donated to school is given to Refresh for them to re sell, please feel free to donate used uniform to them directly.

PE Kits

All students must have their PE kit for every lesson even if excused as they will be required to take part in a non-playing role. If excused, parents/carers should contact the teacher

MHS PE Kit is available from Warrens of Chadkirk and Monkhouses.

Footwear, other equipment and Health and Safety in PE:

Regular trainers are sufficient for activities taking place indoors & on tennis/netball courts. Either Football or Rugby boots MUST be worn for health and safety reasons when taking part in activities on the school field.

For activities on the AstroTurf pitch, non-metal studded boots or trainers with a good grip are advised. A gum shield is required for Rugby and Hockey – these can be purchased on School Gateway. Shin pads are required for Hockey and Football.

It is compulsory to have hair tied back and any jewellery removed before leaving the changing rooms. During summer, we recommend pupils wear sunscreen, a hat & bring a water bottle. Only one small plain gold or silver stud may be worn in each ear.

School coats are not permitted for PE lessons. Students will be outside during the winter months and should dress accordingly e.g. wearing base layers underneath PE kit or alternatively, a plain black/navy blue sports jacket/coat in which the hood can be removed/tucked into the collar.

We cannot stress enough the importance of ensuring a name is written in EVERY item of PE kit. We cannot do anything about a missing PE kit that has no name in it.
