At Marple Hall School we are committed to providing a planned programme of impartial careers education and information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) for all pupils in Years 7-11. We are always looking to see how we can bring our curriculum to life through Careers Education and ensure we meet the Gatsby benchmarks, as recommended by the Government.
Our careers team comprises of:
We expect each and every student to look forward to a positive future through a carefully prepared careers programme that meets the needs of our learners.
Activities are differentiated and personalised to ensure progression in their learning and development, and to strengthen their motivation, aspirations and attainment at school. MHS provides Careers Education and Information in many guises. This is available to parents, carers and students, to help them navigate their way through the many academic and vocational choices they will make during their time at MHS and beyond.
Students can access further information and guidance on our Careers Sharepoint site. The site contains a wide variety of useful material such as information about universities, apprenticeships, T-Levels, the labour market and careers in the curriculum.
The information provided is accurate as at 1st September 2024 and is relevant for the 2024-25 academic year. The information in the Careers Provision Overview document below will be reviewed on an annual basis and will next be updated Autumn 2025.

We have a comprehensive careers library offering information on further education, higher education, apprenticeships and employment, as well as prospectuses from all of the colleges in the local area and beyond. We also offer very well attended business breakfasts where outside employers come in to school to talk about their occupations and what is needed to pursue this line of work.
We are linked with the Greater Manchester Apprenticeship and Careers Service (GMACS) which is a comprehensive site to help you prepare for the future. As a school, we are registered with eCLIPS online. We actively encourage all students to access this to explore qualifications, jobs and progression into future careers. We also encourage the use of websites such as Prospects or The National Careers Service. These provide all students with independent, impartial careers advice accessible from both home and school. During careers discussions, Miss Marney will provide all students with a handout including links to useful careers websites, careers quizzes, and information about university.
Our careers room is full of useful displays, top tips, reflective questions and high-quality information. It can be found on the 2nd floor of Bradshaw.
Regular careers updates can be found on our careers Instagram @marplehallcareers and on our school Twitter page. Students can access resources on the school’s Careers Sharepoint site.
Parents and carers are free to contact Miss Marney at any time. Please send an initial email with your careers related query and Miss Marney will get back to you as soon as she possibly can.
