Marple Hall’s Resource Base

Welcome to our Elements web page.  We are proud to offer this specialist provision within our setting.  Our resource base offers specialist support for students with moderate learning needs.

Why Choose Elements?

The ‘Elements’ team have a wealth of experience and skills.  We ensure that students are offered a broad and balanced curriculum tailored to their needs.  Our cross curricular approach encompasses features of mainstream and specialist teaching whilst still targeting specific needs that an individual may have.  Our curriculum is heavily skills based and aims to develop pupils’ independence throughout their time with us.  We aspire to give all our students the maximum opportunity to succeed in areas where they excel.  We get out into the community regularly to use life skills such as shopping, travelling on a bus and ordering food.  We work closely with external agencies to ensure the needs of the whole child are met.

We put determination, honesty, readiness, respect and spark at the centre of all that we do.  We believe that all our students can learn and make progress. We respect and value everyone regardless of abilities, needs and behaviours.  We believe that the best way to educate our students is to work in partnership with families and other agencies. 

Who can access Elements?

Access to Elements is determined by the Local Authority SEND team. Student who meet the following criteria may be considered for a place:

• Students aged 11-16 with an Education, Health and Care Plan for moderate learning needs and working significantly below age-related expectations
• Students with communication difficulties
• Students on the Autistic Spectrum
• Students with sensory difficulties

How does my child access the resourced provision?
Places are allocated by the Local Authority and are named in Section 1 of the Education, Health and Care Plan.

What is the resource base like?

Elements resource base is an integrated part of Marple Hall School.  We have a new purpose-built building, in the centre of the school site. There are four classrooms, a therapy room, a sensory room, a kinetic studio, two bespoke practical classrooms and a dining area.  We have also been developing two outdoor spaces for gardening and outdoor education.  We have PCs, an interactive screen and iPads.

Come and visit the base on 17th September as part of our school annual open evening  (details on the school website).  There are additional tours listed below.  All tours are on Tuesdays from 14.15-15.00.  If you feel it would be helpful to bring your child/young person along to look around, they are very welcome.  Please state this when you book your place.
