Each year, our school community elects a team of students from Years 7-10 to represent them as student leaders. These students meet weekly to discuss their ideas about how to improve our school. Past projects have included reducing litter around school, changes to rules around PE kit, changes to canteen food, changes to reusable cutlery, an increased focus on diversity, bean bags for the LRC, improvements to the school grounds, and ‘Stockport Heads Together’, a series of meetings bringing students leaders together from a range of Stockport Schools. MHSL has also been very successful in raising money for charity. Last year, the school raised over £8,500 for our nominated charity, the Kamla Foundation.
The team is led by our elected KS4 Head Students. The selection process involves an application, a group task, an interview and an election campaign. We are very lucky to have so many students in our school willing to put themselves forward for these leadership positions and we are very proud of the work they do.
