National research shows that Pupil Premium learners tend to under-perform at school when compared to their non-Pupil Premium counterparts. At Marple Hall we believe that to become more effective teachers of Pupil Premium learners, we must consciously try to improve our practice in the classroom, seek feedback on our teaching and undertake activities for the sake of improvement.
We have therefore made supporting our Pupil Premium and SEN learners a whole-school priority, creating a special working party which includes a range of teachers, senior leaders and our headteacher. Together we consider the most effective strategies to support these students within and outside the classroom and have implemented a number of key ideas to improve their experience of our school.
However, as evidence clearly shows that the best way to support more vulnerable students is to improve every day classroom teaching, we believe that all of our students will ultimately benefit.
