Dear all
Last week I blogged about the process by which we will seek responses from parents/carers on the issue of consent for the Covid vaccine for 12-16 year olds. The first section of this blog explains the key information, with further details offered in the remainder of the blog.
Tomorrow, Friday 15th October, we will send the following out to parents/carers and upload copies on the school website:
1) A letter from the Local Authority explaining the vaccine programme
2) An email containing instructions on how to respond to the consent request
We will also upload an online response form located within the EduLink App/website
We request that families respond to the consent gathering process as soon as possible, and by an absolute deadline of Wednesday 3rd November at midday. The deadline is important to help NHS colleagues plan the amount of vaccine needed.
Further details on the above can be found here:
1) A letter from the Local Authority explaining the vaccine programme
The letter explains the vaccine programme and provides a link to further information. The link refers to parents/carers handing a copy of the consent form back to staff in school. In most cases this will not be necessary as consent can be given electronically via Edulink. In addition the letter mentions catch up sessions that will have passed by the time the MHS vaccinations take place. The school nursing team will be arranging further catch up opportunities in November. Details of these will be communicated through the school, and advertised on the CCG website at https://www.stockportccg.nhs.uk/news/covid-19-vaccination-options/
2) Instructions on how to respond to the consent request
Finding the online consent form
When the form is live a notification will appear on the Edulink web bowser version or mobile app, shown as a small number to the side of the ‘forms’ section. Here is an example from both versions of Edulink:
What if my child is not yet 12 years old and won’t be by mid November?
11 year olds are not eligible for the vaccine.
Please complete the consent form as if your child was 12 years old. It may be possible for some students in this position to be vaccinated in school once they turn 12, depending on the capacity of vaccination teams. If not then vaccines will be available away from school.
Many thanks
Joe Barker
