At Marple Hall School, Drama is a thriving and successful subject that extends far beyond the classroom. Alongside our curriculum lessons, school productions, clubs and enrichment opportunities, we are proud to offer students the chance to undertake private LAMDA tuition.

LAMDA lessons provide students with an exciting opportunity to develop their acting, public speaking and communication skills while working towards nationally recognised qualifications. Under the guidance of experienced industry professionals, students can build confidence, improve their performance skills and develop valuable life skills that will benefit them in education, employment and everyday life.

What is LAMDA

LAMDA stands for the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, one of the UK’s most respected drama schools.
LAMDA examinations are the speech and drama equivalent of music grades, offering a structured pathway for students of all ages and abilities.
Through practical performance and communication tasks, students develop:

• Confidence and self-esteem
• Effective communication skills
• Public speaking and presentation techniques
• Acting and performance skills
• Vocal clarity and expression
• Creativity and imagination
• Teamwork and collaboration

Students can choose from a range of examination pathways, including Acting, Speaking Verse and Prose, Public Speaking and other communication-based disciplines.

LAMDA qualifications are externally assessed and recognised internationally. Higher-level qualifications can also contribute UCAS tariff points, making them a valuable addition to a student’s academic profile.

Perhaps most importantly, LAMDA equips young people with skills that support success both on and off the stage. The ability to communicate clearly, speak confidently and present ideas effectively is invaluable in school, university applications, interviews and future careers.
