Hitting new heights with the class for 2022

Today is the day that our class of 2022 pick up their exam results, a day that has been a long time coming. For the first day in three years students sat a ‘normal’ exam season and for the first time in three years we have a ‘normal’ results day, which we hope will be a day of celebration for all.

Speaking about the year group as a whole, I can officially announce that these results are our best ever as a school, not including the two Covid affected years when exams didn’t happen and so can’t really be compared. The class of 2022 worked incredibly hard during their time at school, especially in the final two years, and coped so well with the disruption of the pandemic. Their commitment to their studies in year 11 was remarkable and we hoped that this would translate into special outcomes…and it did! Hard work, determination and effort really does pay off. There are success stories across the cohort and across the ability range, with students pushing the boundaries of what they thought they could achieve. The progress that students made from joining us in Year 7 to leaving us today has been comfortably the best we’ve ever seen, setting a brilliant example for those who will follow in their footsteps in the years to come.

Talking of future year groups, congratulations too to the Class of 2024 who pick up results of their own today in either a Modern Foreign Language or Sports Studies. The results for the vast majority of students are brilliant and hopefully with give great confidence as they head into KS4 proper.

I’m always very aware that not every student will have done as well as they wanted to, and some will be wondering what to do next. To those members of the class of 2022 who feel like this I want to reassure you that we’re here to help. If you didn’t get what you wanted then don’t worry – GCSEs don’t define you as a person and you can achieve whatever you want to in life. Every single student will forever be a part of our class of 2022 and we are proud of you all.

Well done!
