We Will Rock You – MHS Edition!

After a short interval, we are back and ready with our next school show! In 2019, we ‘Hand Jived’ and brought you ‘Grease Lighting.’ This year… ‘WE WILL ROCK YOU’!

Our students have been working extremely hard to bring “We Will Rock You” to Marple Hall. We have over 100 students involved as Cast, Crew, Band and Designers.

Join our cast and crew as we transport you to the future: a dystopian, globalized world, where everyone wears the same clothes and thinks the same thoughts. Computer-generated, mass-manufactured music has taken hold and musical instruments are forbidden. Rock music is all but unknown. Galileo, Scaramouche and the Bohemian’s rebel against the system and fight to bring the Music back. All set to Queens greatest hits: WE WILL ROCK YOU!

We have three evening performances on Tuesday 8th, Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th November 2022. Doors open 6:30pm and the show starts at 7pm.

Year 11 Special Event: 12th October 6.30pm

We have organised a fantastic outside speaker – Lisa Wisher from ‘Bright Futures’ – to discuss the best ways parents/guardians can support their child’s mental health throughout Year 11. Our Assistant Headteacher will also provide key information on our revision programme. Places at this event are likely to be very popular, so please sign up HERE as soon as possible to secure your ticket.

Heartbeat Chorus – ‘Be More Adele’ Workshop

Heartbeat Chorus are holding a singing workshop on Sat 10th September at Marple Hall. There will be 2 workshops running – one is for Adults and we will be learning an Adele song in 4 part harmony, the other is a youth chorus and they will be learning one of the arrangements from Pitch Perfect. The youth stream is open to girls from aged 14. This is a great opportunity to join the chorus and friends and family will be able to come along at the end of the day and watch them perform with the chorus. For anyone who is not familiar with Heartbeat- look them up on YouTube and watch some of our medal winning performances!

Getting help if you need it this summer

We hope that all our students enjoy themselves this summer. If, for any reason, a student is worried or upset about anything over the break then we recommend the following four actions:

  1. Contact ‘Kooth’, an excellent online mental health support platform
  2. Contact Childline
  3. Read the document entitled ‘How to help and support children when something terrible happens’ below which includes advice and guidance for supporting young people after difficult events.
  4. Email the Head of Year, pastoral manager or form tutor. It is unlikely that staff will access their emails until near to the start of term, so if a student needs help more quickly then please use one of the first three options above.
